Buzz Lightyear was first seen when it was given as a gift to Andy from his mother at his birthday party. Buzz quickly becomes Andy’s favorite toy over Woody, the cowboy doll who is used to harboring these differences, to develop a hatred for Buzz. The friction between Buzz and Woody is set aside at the end of the film when they help each other escape from a child who loves torturing toys, Sid.
In Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, Buzz is a space ranger for the Star Commander, protecting the universe from the Evil Emperor Zurg. He works in a team alongside Mira Nova, a Tangean princess with phasing powers, Booster, a janitor from the planet Jo-Ad, and XR, a robot created by the Little Green Men (aliens from the film, LGM for short).

Reason why toys are important for kids
1. Stimulate language skills
A study conducted in England in 2000 reported that age-appropriate toys can stimulate a child’s brain to process and express words better.
This study was conducted on children aged 1-6 years who were given toys for symbolic play (for example, given blocks with wheels to play as if they were cars), then compared them with children who were not given toys. As a result, scores on the language test of children who were given toys were better than children who were not given toys at all.
2. Improve math skills
Another study states that toys can improve children’s ability to count. One of the toys that can be used is a block toy. The more complex the building blocks of toys arranged by the child, the higher the child’s ability in mathematics will be.
The results of the study reported that children who played with blocks (which were complex) as a child, had much better math skills than children who did not play blocks.
Besides being important for brain development, the stimulation provided through toys is also useful for children’s growth and development later in life. For example, a toy given to a baby. Toys can stimulate the baby’s touch, sight, and hearing sensations.

Fact about Woody and Buzz
The two main characters of Toy Story, Woody and Buzz, have an initial design that is completely different from what appears in the animated version. In fact, at first Woody’s character was a ventriloquist doll and was the antagonist of the film, which was tentatively titled You are a Toy. However, because the doll is often associated with horror films, Disney officials also rejected the idea on the grounds that they did not want children who watched this film to be frightened. Finally, Woody’s character becomes a cowboy with a loyal and wise personality.
While Woody’s sidekick character was originally Tinny from Pixar’s animated short, Tin Toy is not Buzz. But when he realized that the toy didn’t fit the script where it had to be more interesting than Woody, the toy astronaut appeared. The name change also took place starting with Lunar Larry, Tempus from Morph, before finally being named Buzz Lightyear which was inspired by Buzz Aldrin, the second man to set foot on the Moon.
