Cakes, any flavor, must bring heaven on earth for those with a sweet tooth. This post will share some tips on how to make your sketch look appetizing. Both children and adults are welcome to practice this art project.
In this project, we use a combination of art supplies, which are watercolor and colored pencils. Both have different tasks. To create the underlayer, we use watercolor. On the other hand, we use colored pencils to develop details. It means the art supplies you need are a sheet of watercolor paper, a graphite pencil, erasers, watercolor paints, watercolor brushes, and colored pencils.
1. Create a Framework
First thing first, a framework is built from an elongated cube. Draw vertical lines that make people look at the cake from above. Furthermore, create three biscuit layers (or whatever you want) and add the shapes of nuts and strawberries on top of the cake.
Other details are allowed to create textures, such as variations of hollow openings. Make it dynamic so it looks real.
2. Paint with Your Watercolor
Follow these beginner-friendly steps to play with watercolor. You can start by choosing light brown, yellow, gold, and red. The biscuit layers and the top of the cake are light browns, the cream layer is yellow, the strawberries are red, and the tangerine is gold. Repeat those steps until you get your desired result.
3. Draw with Your Colored Pencils
Add layers to the darker areas using colored pencils. The color should follow the existing watercolor. For example, add soft yellow (cream) to cover the biscuit layers and create shades under the toppers.
