Why does Easter Close with Bunny?
However, the Easter bunny has become the main symbol of the most important holiday in Christianity. The origin of the rabbit myth is unclear but the rabbit is considered a fertile creature so that it becomes a symbol of fertility and new life. According to some sources, the Easter Bunny appeared in America in the 1700s along with German immigrants who settled in Pennsylvania.
Immigrants from Germany carried a tradition of egg-laying rabbits called Osterhase or Oschter Haws. The children build nests to lay the creature’s eggs. Eventually, this custom spread throughout the United States with the addition of chocolates, candies, and other gifts. The children also prepared carrots to keep the rabbits from getting hungry.
