Gorilla is the largest ape. The characteristics of both Western and Eastern gorillas are relatively similar in some points, such as black hair and skin, and large nostrils. Gorilla is a living primate that is the closest to humans, so no wonder they look rather similar.
Physically, male and female gorillas have different characteristics. Adult male gorillas have prominent chest and silver/ gray hairs on their lower back. They are less aggressive, eat leaves, shoots, and stalks.

1. Live in Two Different Isolated Groups
Mountain gorillas are found living in two different isolated groups in east-central Africa. They live in bamboo forests and high-altitude montane forests. Perhaps the reasons why they are living there are because of the settlement and agriculture nearby.
2. We Have 98% DNA Shared with Gorillas
They share similarities with us but not immunity development. It means, they probably have flu just like humans but they don’t have the immunity system to fight as humans do. It is dangerous for their communities.
3. One of the Biggest and Most Powerful Primates Living on Earth
They can weigh up to 180 kg and 170 cm tall (male adult mountain gorillas). Can you imagine that an adult weighs almost 30 stones? What if we meet them in groups? They must be truly intimidating for all human beings and other creatures.
Besides those three fun facts, you must know that gorillas spend almost their whole day eating. They eat leaves, shoots, snails, bark, and ants. The last two are good sources of sodium for them.
